The centre conducts research in medical technology with focus on minimally invasive surgery, minimally invasive procedures and medical robotics, as well as their combinations.

Planned realisation and outcomes:

• New and improved instruments for minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and procedures (MIP)
• Medical robotics for surgical interventions with focus on needle based procedures
• New sensors, integrated into instruments to improve patient safety while monitoring patient condition and therapy progress
• Test and training environment for evaluation of usability aspects of medical devices and instruments

Research topics:
functional materials, product and process optimization, measuring technology
