CEST (K1) - Centre of Electrochemical Surface Technology

CEST is an Austrian competence centre for electrochemical surface technology which acts as an innovation generator and active interface between academia and industry.
Scientific work is organized in the areas „Electrodeposition and dissolution“, „Corrosion research“, “Process and process control”, „Modelling and simulation“, ,„Surface analytics and electrochemical in situ techniques“. Based on a fundamental understanding of electrochemical processes and supported by modelling and simulation techniques, electrochemical production parameters are correlated to the resulting surface properties such as e.g. corrosion resistance, wear behaviour or more specific functionalities. State-of-the-art methods and equipment is used to determine these properties. The processes are optimized in terms of economic efficiency and environmental friendliness.
Research Topics:
Chromium(VI)-free corrosion protection, Functional layers, Electrodeposition/-dissolution in non-aqueous electrolytes, Electrochemical in-situ methods
