HFA-TiMBER started in 2009 and plans the development and installation of a multi-sensor system in a production environment will be realised. Indoor air quality and energy efficiency are realised together with specialised companies and tested in real scale. The new window element as well as the implementation in the facade and the home automation is carried out in close cooperation with a window producer. The maintenance concept will result in an indicator which will be tested in the production of specialised enterprises.

Research topics:
HFA-TiMBER focuses on a holistic approach to improve reliability in grading, economic use of round wood and addresses customer convenience. The first area deals with scanning and grading technologies aiming at the development of new grading technologies, refine existing ones as well as combine them to new grading systems leading to improved grading reliability and economic performance of the wood industry by a more detailed quality assessment of round and sawn wood. The second area deals directly with the convenience needs of the customer in timber houses, i.e. new insulation systems depending on latitude, indoor air quality and ventilation aspects as well as an easy to understand maintenance concept.
