The centre is a partnership of different companies and researchers constituting the leading Austrian research institute in the areas wood composites and wood chemistry. The centre focuses on the development and optimization of methods and engineering processes. The results constitute the basis for a new generation of innovative products and technologies based on wood and related natural substances.

Planned realisation and outcomes:

• New low weight materials with excellent mechanical properties (e.g. foamed wood);
• Efficient extrusion and injection moulding processes for WPC (WPC: Wood Plastic Composites);
• Decorative surfaces with improved scratch and abrasion resistance by using nano- and printing-technologies
• High performance wood composites for construction applications
• New bonding technologies for optimised production and product performance
• Minimized resources consumption, closed process cycles by implementing on-line analytics, by products isolation (wood-refinery-conception) and bio-technology methods
