IMECC is one of the three new Centres established in 2009.

Competence Centre has three strategic development areas:
1) Integration of business and manufacturing planning based on e-manufacturing (e-mfg) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
2) Development cost and time efficient solutions for SMEs for process automation and innovative emerging manufacturing Technologies and
3) Self-organising systems with online monitoring and diagnostics.

The focuses of the Centre's research are as follows:

- Manufacturing planning for enterprises and supply chains in E-manufacturing environment
- Development of PLM systems, modelling in optimal way the entire lifecycle of a products and their families
- R&D for effective implementation of emerging technologies and manufacturing process automation
- Development of tools for monitoring and maintenance of production systems
