GABI, the acronym for Genome Analysis of the Plant Biological System, is the German plant genome research program supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education, Research and Technology (BMBF) and a number private enterprise companies. With a view to gaining information on the structures and functions of important plant genomes in order to enable a better use of the potential of plants in terms of a sustainable and future-orientated agriculture, GABI bundles and networks research efforts of approximately 350 scientists in about 25 universitary and just as many non-universitary research facilities in Germany and also Europe-wide.
