Plasma is an important tool for manufacturing high quality thin coatings and the key to producing innovative new products and surfaces. Potential uses range from the hardening and tempering of metallic surfaces to coatings for glass and the deposition of multifunctional coating systems on plastics. Although the applications for plasma technology are becoming increasingly more demanding, processes need to be simplified in order to be able to manufacture products economically.
