The Mechatronics Cluster BW e.V. (KMBW) is an industry driven cooperative group of approx. 90 enterprises of economics, science and politics. The cross section technology mechatronics connects all technical industries and topics as the central network topic and focuses on future topics. Large, on the world market acting enterprises, SMEs, start-ups, universities and research establishments are our network partners for conversion successes.

For Germany mechatronics is a important cross section technology. The German economy gained the descriptor “world export champion” vehicles, production engineering as well as chemical products. Plants for the production of pollution free energy or medicine-technical devices from Germany are world-wide highly recommended. These industries would not be conceivable without the mechatronics. Everywhere, where expirations run automated and predominantly without humans, mechatronics can be found. Mechatronics for example supports humans to solve activities and tasks with high precision, speed and security. Assistance systems in cars like ABS or ESP are good examples of machatronics in the everyday life. The KMBW promotes the performance of its members with branchspreading topics as for example qualification, standardisation, intelligent products, intelligent and transformationable production, e-mobility, energy engineering, renewable energies, as well as development methods and - tools.

As cross section technology the range of topics in mechatronics offers an ideal field for interdisciplinary, constructional and lasting cluster activities. The homogeneous member structures of the KMBW, with large and small enterprises, and the broad branchspreading member spectrum is the most important unique selling proposition and a large success factor. Out of these varieties of most diverse branch and topic fields results new interfaces. This favours the emergence of radical innovations and forms the basis for the material lived industry driven cluster strategy, for which the KMBW is well known. The focusing on conversion and lastingness are nuclear elements of this strategy. For each setting of tasks the KMBW can develop a solution; all partners and competences necessary for this are fast attainable and time near callable.
