CAST's objective is to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic methods for cancer treatment. Researchers have discovered that the most dangerous cells often have stem cell characteristics. This makes them stronger and more resistant to treatment than other cells. It is believed that many tumors originate with a stem cell.
