Romania's Socio-Ecological Complexes

The strategies and the programs concerning the long term development of socio-ecological complexes identified at different space and time scales, the macro-regional integration processes and globalisation are and will be concentrated over the objectives of the political program that concerns with the sustainable development. Socio-economical systems are no longer perceived as units external to the environment or as reactive and pro-active units in connection with the nature, but as parts of its hierarchical organization at space and time scale. The sustainable development has to be the resultant of the adaptative management of the spatial and temporal relationships between the components of the natural capital infrastructure and between the components of the socio-economical system. The long term aim of this project is to prove scientifically and to make operable the concept of sustenability for the Romania's socio-ecological complexes. In this respect, the following general objectives had been considered: 1.Design,development and consolidation of the research and integrated monitoring infrastructure for the socio-ecological systems: a)strengthening and developing a network of laboratories and research institutes with experience in carrying out complementary research activities, specifically for the socio-ecological complexes b)designing the national network of socio-ecological complexes which serves as a platform for long term research and monitoring activities 2.Development and implementation of a package of complementary long term research and integrated monitoring programs. 3.Designing and development of the information and knowledge bases and of the infrastructure communication and cognitive transfer systems towards all kind of stakeholders.
