CICtourGUNE

CICtourGUNE, the Cooperative Centre for Tourism Research, is the new scientific-technological infrastructure to generate excellence knowledge in the field of tourism and mobility. Product of the Basque Research, Development and Innovation Tourism strategy, iTourgune, CICtourGUNE is now a reality encompassing 27 partners including technology companies, social innovation companies, tourism destinations, tourism companies, universities, Basque science and technology network agents and public administrations.

CICtourGUNE is an international centre to which aim is to strengthen coordination for a tourism innovation system and incorporate it in the European Research Space. The aim is to adapt the tourism sector to the requirements of the new knowledge economy, supporting the existing business fabric and contributing to the development of new companies in knowledge-intensive sectors.

CICtourGUNE’s primary purpose is to look in greater depth at and make progress in strategic research and technological development regarding tourism and mobility.

It is a cooperation platform which boosts alliances and effective interaction between agents in different fields: companies, the university and agents in the Basque science and technology network and regional and European public administrations.

Mission

Consolidate the scientific field of tourism and support the Basque R+D+i Tourism strategy – iTourgune – in order to improve the sector’s competitiveness, facilitating to create an attractive and innovating destination and generating activity comprising advanced products and services which help to sustain singular positioning and attain a global market objective.

Strategic lines

The CICtourGUNE scientific programme runs in three mayor fields of knowledge: ITourism Intelligent Management Systems, Services in Open Mobile networks and Comfort and Reception in Tourism in  future environments.
