ECN, the leading Dutch energy institute, is at the cutting edge of European efforts in the development of new technologies that meet tomorrow’s energy demand. It conducts research and development over a large range of energy technologies, carefully selected for their impact over the next decades. It focuses its activities on the needs of government and industry. The portfolio of R&D at ECN is aimed at more efficient production and less consumption, both in the short and the long term. Partly, ECN is funded by Dutch government. Partly, it conducts contract research for governmental institutions, largely for the European Union. ECN is also funded by contract research for industries and marketing of its licences.
