Conference European Challenges for innovation

The Spanish Presidency of the European Union and the European Commission are jointly organising this conference to advance on the definition of the right innovation strategy for Europe.
The EU 27 Member States and the European Union already devote considerable efforts to support innovative firms and provide an adequate framework for innovation. However, in the face of growing competitive pressures from economic globalisation and the need to address grand societal challenges, Europe needs to step up its efforts to unlock its innovation potential.
The new Europe 2020 Strategy places research, knowledge and innovation at its heart and provides an ambitious vision for the European Union in this new decade.
The conference will bring together policy makers and innovation practitioners to discuss cases of good practice in Member States and exchange views on the way forward for Europe.
