Report and recommendations of the Expert Panel on Service Innovation in the EU

The report ‘Meeting the challenge of Europe 2020. The transformative power of service innovation’ addresses the potential of services to transform whole sectors of the EU economy and demonstrates how service innovations can address wider societal challenges such as the aging population, welfare services under pressure, climate change and sustainable growth. In the report, the Expert Panel proposes a set of high-level recommendations. The recommendations address five main themes that the Expert Panel has identified as having the potential to significantly strengthen European innovation and growth, and which place transformative service innovation at the heart of European industrial and innovation policy.

The 23 cases described in this publication illustrate how transformative services can help drive smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The cases have been selected by the members of the Expert Panel and provide evidence of innovative new services across Europe.
