Alloy sensitive PLC Control Unit for Low Pressure Die Casting Machine

A new PLC Unit, developed by ARC Seibersdorf Research and ARC – LKR is able to compensate fluidity variations of light metal alloys by aligning the casting parameters cast pressure and inflation time.

This leads to reproducible die filling conditions and improvements in reduction of rejects. A data recording system, which is integrated in the PLC unit as well as a visualisation module, allows measuring of melt positions and temperatures at 32 measuring points and graphic maps of die filling. Die filling and solidification simulation can be evaluated directly by clear pictures.
