Improve Your Region's Innovation Capacity
Eight European regions tell you how!
Eight European regions have joined their efforts and issued a comprehensive guide on how to:
- Find a vision and define strategic objectives in a region
- Coordinate and share responsibilities in the regions
- Raise awareness on the importance of innovation in regional policy
- Make use of complementarities between EU, national, regional and local policies
The Centre for Science, Society and Technology Studies of the Czech Academy of Sciences participated in this project and focused its analysis on South Moravia.
South Moravia's specific innovation policy analysis is extensively dealt with in the study accompanying the guide. It has identified key factors for success in the field of effective regional innovation as political commitment, funding and appropriate regional conditions whereas the regional weakness is the lack of skilled people for business development support. South Moravia needs venture capital, better participation of universities and the involvement of public agencies avoiding overlapping activities. The initiatives and tools for success are the presence of incubators for SMEs, the subsidized consultancy, the different funds, subsidized education of entrepreneurs, web portals and networking initiatives.
