Research Management

Of course, the core task of CRCs is performing research.  In CRCs a number of actors and institutions are involved, calling for the management of research.  Therefore, research management issues play a key role both in the board/steering committee of a CRC and in the management unit.

  • Board and Administrative Personnel should be experienced in Research Management
  • The CRC should have processes for strategic decision-making concerning research agendas, e.g.,
    • is an annual process for work planning needed?
    • how should partners be involved?
    • is a “demand-driven research agenda” desired? How can it be realized?
  • Be familiar (and agree) with Intellectual Property issues, i.e.,
    • IP protection procedures
    • laboratory notebook practices
    • IP sub-board
    • publications protocol
  • Continuously develop your research management skills, e.g., by

    • State-of-the-Art Monitoring
    • Foresight review exercises
