General guidelines on communication
- Plan your communication activities strategically.
- Train the people communicating with media – it’s important to practise the communication skills of the most “visible” people.
- Not only keep your direct target groups regularly informed, but address also the indirect target groups (journalists, governmental institutions, non-profit organizations), who could benefit to the promotion of the programme.
- Use COMPERA to inform about your news and events.
Build up a database of promoters that you can use to communicate your press releases. - Consider in as far you might also additional foreign news agencies and services to distribute your press releases. Discuss this issue with partners in the COMPERA network.
- Consider communication aspects in all your activities - even though at first sight the potential news might not be visible.
- Consider new innovative ways of training and learning (e.g. Innovation Journalism in addressing the journalists) to broaden the mind of the target groups and grow their interest in the relevant field.
- Include a budget for communication in your programme for the whole duration of the programme.
